Foreign Language Invades Holly Tree!

On Monday, we kicked of four new enrichments at Holly Tree! One of the new enrichments is Spanish! Ms. Roxanne had everyone's attention the moment she walked into the rooms!

Ms. Roxanne started off in our PS2 classroom. After each child worked on how to introduce their self in Spanish, they talked about their families.

In the family, we had a mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, baby, brother, sister, cat, and bird. Ms. Roxanne would say the English word then she would say it in Spanish, and the class would repeat her.

The classrooms also worked on saying their colors and counted to ten in Spanish.

Each child could not wait to introduce their self in PS3! After a friend would say who they were the class would say "Hola!" and the child's name.

At the end of each classes lesson they would finish with a song! The song of the day was skidamarink! We also did the motions that went with the song!

A SEA OF GREEN!

On Tuesday, March 17, 2015, our classes were flooded with a sea of green. Each class had their St. Patrick's Day parties, each child had a shade of green on. Whether it was on shirt, pants, shoes, or all over. Each class also had a special craft that they did after they ate their snack.

In PS3, Ms. Shanice and her friends are enjoying a healthy snack. They had veggies, meat, fruit, and a sweet treat!

In PS2 a friend took a break from eating to give Mrs. Erica a big smile!

In PS1 our friends enjoyed one of their favorite snacks...Cheese and Crackers. They also had fruits and veggies, and meat.

Although our PS1 enjoys their cheese and crackers, they love sugar cookies with sprinkles on top!!!

Even our nursery friend were wearing green! Not only does this friend love to smile, but he has discovered his tongue and loves sticking it out while smiling!

The Importance of Brushing Your Teeth

Teeth are a very important part of our bodies. Without teeth we would not be able to chew our food properly. Kids need to learn at a young age the proper way to care for their teeth, and know what foods could be harmful to their teeth health.

Our children where patiently waiting for the show to being. Each child was just hoping that they would get picked to be a helper.

We had five friends that help start the show! Each child was able to hold a letter. Once all the children were lined up they spelled out the word TEETH!

Each child was given the opportunity to brush Sam's teeth. The dentist walked each child through the proper way of brushing and flossing your teeth.

One experiment that the children were able to do, was healthy foods vs. junk food.
The children would stick their finger into the junk food and feel how sticky it was and then they would touch the healthy food. The difference each child learn. was healthy food is better for your teeth and your body, and it does not make your teeth feel dirty.

The last experiment the children did was with three types of eggs into three different jar. Each of the jars had a different type of liquid.  As the children touched each egg they found out that the egg was getting softer. The dentist told them this is what happens when you drink soda and other fizzy drinks. When you drink water it does not effect your teeth. The children loved the time that the dentist spent with them, and one child told her that he wanted her to be his dentist now!
